Make your stay in Ottawa an eye-opening experience as you discover the old Carleton County Gaol. During your stay you’ll have the opportunity to visit the Carleton County Gaol Heritage Centre, as well as have a professionally guided tour of the building. You’ll learn what life was like in the early rough and tumble days when Ottawa was considered the most dangerous town in North America, why the city needed such an imposing and large prison, about early prison life, and hear of some of the gaol’s most famous, infamous, cunning and clueless inmates.
